What we do
At South Downs Guitar Lessons, we specialise in personalised guitar instruction targeted to each individual's learning style.

We create lessons especially tailored to what YOU want to learn - whether thats by playing along to your favourite classic rock bands, learning a pop acoustic track to sing along to, or studying for a music exam, we will be able to help get you there whist keeping it fun and informative.
If you're just starting as a beginner or a more advanced player looking to refine your theory knowledge or technique, we’re here to guide you on your path to musical mastery.
How do the lessons work?
South Downs Guitar Lessons are based in Houghton Bridge near Arundel, UK.

​We teach all styles and all ages in a one on one setting, and you'll have access to videos, backing tracks and tabs/notation outside of the lesson to practice with.​
​
While the lessons are not too theory heavy, you will learn how chords, melodies, guitar solos and rhythms work so you can apply it to the next songs and solos you want to learn.

We can also help with live performance - if you are gearing up for your first live shows we advise on what amps, pedals and other gear you will need, as well as tips on how to perform and have confidence on stage.

Your Teacher
Rachael started teaching 20 years ago, and has seen student successes with professional guitarists and songwriters under her guidance.
She has a first class honours degree in Guitar from BIMM, has studied orchestration certificates at Berklee, and has a wealth of knowledge from over 20 years of professional gigging as both a guitarist and Musical Director.
Rachael has performed Worldwide with artists such as Sinead O’Connor, Skunk Anansie and Cirque du Soleil, and is currently lead guitarist for cult indie band The Wedding Present.
Rachael has also written articles for UK magazines “Guitarist” and “Total Guitar”, and if not on the road is usually tweaking guitar sounds in "The Orangeroom" recording studio.
